Exploring Fortune Island: Athens, Greece of the Philippines

by - Friday, July 21, 2017

It’s really a taste of Athens, Greece once you visit Fortune Island in Nasugbu, Batangas in the Philippines. Fortune Island was once a luxury island resort, but now it is just an abandoned island with a few crumbling structures just like the acropolis of Athens.

How to get there

By private transport – there are two main routes going to Nasugbu from Manila. The first one is via Tagaytay which can be reach through SLEX (Carmona or ETON exit) or Aguinaldo Highway. The second option is via Cavitex then Anterio Soriano Highway.
By public transport – From Baclaran or Buendia Bus Stations, ride a BSC or DLTB Buendia-Taft bus bound for Nasugbu. Alight the bus in Nasugbu Bus Station then ride a tricycle going to Fortune Island Resort. Fare is around P160. Travel time is roughly 3 hours.
At the Fortune Island Resort, ride a pumpboat to the island for P3500-4,000 good for 8-10 pax. The boat ride takes about forty five minutes (45) from the cost of Nasugbu to Forune Island.

What to Do

There were abundant of activities to do in the island.

·         Swimming. With its pristine beach and powdery white sand it is ideal for swimming.

With friends. Enjoying the white beach of Fortune Island.

·            Cliff diving. At the back of the hill, you’ll see a jumping point from where you can dive into the        open sea.

Snorkeling and Diving. You can explore the underwater in the island. You can either snorkel with a floater or if you are skillful than that then this might just become one of your favorite free dive spots.

Trek to the Lighthouse. Go on a 30-minute trek to the lighthouse atop the island’s highest point. You’ll love to see the antic that it is.

Pictorial. Fortune Island is really great for pictorial. The acropolis and statues set against the    backdrop of infinity turquoise blue sea will confuse people if you are in the Mediterranean or in Philippines. Try to capture the sunrise and sunset.

Sunset in Fortune Island is also stunning

·         Camping. If you want to explore more on the island you bring your own tent or rent. But make sure  to bring mosquito repellent, loads of water and food supplies as the island lacks of basic amenities  like electricity, rooms and toilets.

If you’re also looking for a prenuptial venue, well, I definitely suggest Fortune Island. Here’s our sample prenuptial photos which me and my best friend had taken.
